I'm traveling through New Zealand for 3 months alone. I'll be on both the North Island, and South Island. And plan to post here when I can.

Happy Halloween

Alright, now I have time to write. I left auckland a while ago with Andor and Dan and we took a boat to an island called Waiheke. When we got there we planned on renting mountain bikes and biking around the island, so we hitch hiked to a place where we could do that, but it was expensive. So we got enough food for about 2 days and hitch hiked out of the small town to the reginal park, basically a national park. We got picked up by a nice lady who claimed she predicted 9/11 and told us about the trees turning into people. She droped us off and we found a spot to camp. We camped on a really beautiful beach with no one around and went on a hike around the park by some pools and waterfalls. They have the craziest birds ever here. There's really no other animal life other than fish and birds. We then found a boat next to where we were camping and planned to row out to this small island we could see maybe a mile out at sea. I spent the rest of the day gathering clams called puppies. These nice old ladies told me that I could find them there and eat thme. Got around 80 clams and put them on the barbeque that was at the camp and ate those for dinner. They also gave us the rest of their salad bowl and so we added the clams to that. It's funny when you're living on such a low budget how exciting it is to be givin free food. Then this old man lent me his spear and tought me how to catch flounder at night, I waded around in the water with my headlamp for a while but couldn't find any, lots of jelly fish though. We slept outside and woke up to a little rain, packed up, and got ready to row. The boat we found was a really small wooden boat that probably is just ment for one or two people, but we put three in. Dan rowed and we got to the island after about 45 mins, it was full of crazy loud birds. We got back, hitched hiked to the ferry, and returned to Auckland. Andor wanted to stay a few more night there, so we split up and Dan and I got a bus to Hamleton. So, I was expecting Hamleton to be a small town and resemble the Shire, but it was not that at all. It was sort of just a gross normal small city. We got there right as it was getting dark and chose to sleep in the public park. We slept by some rail road tracks that woke us up every so often, but all in all, I slept well. It was the first time I've ever slept in a park, and probably the last. But now I can say I've done it. We weren't sure if it's illigal or not to sleep in a park, so we woke up right before the sun came up, about 6:00, packed up and left. We were going to head to Rotorua, but a girl at the bus stop the day before told us that Raglan had a nice beach so on a whim we choose to head that way. It was the oposite direction. We hitched hiked to Raglan and it turned out to be a really awesome small surfing town, and I guess the best surfing beach in New Zealand. We stayed on the beach there and spent 2 nights. The first day we met another back packer from germany named Sebastian and he camped with us. We spent both days laying on the beach and swimming in the ocean all day. I've never really swam in an ocean thats more warm than cold before, so that was a good thing. This mourning we hitched to Rotorua where Dan is going to look for a rafting job. It's a super geothermic area and so it smell like sulfur every where. There's a hot spring in the hostel im staying at that I'll go in soon. And I plan on finding more. I got directions to one that has a big waterfall of hot water, I'm looking forward to that. Anyway, theres a lot of information of what I've done. I'm heading to Taupo to climb an alpine trek in a few days. And meeting up with Zach some time soon. It may be a bit before I post again.

That was long.

It's Halloween today, it's not really celebrated here, but a little bit. Happy Halloween!
